Kape Balos
I drank coffee. From Civet poop! LOL!
Kape Balos from Ria Jose on Vimeo.
Kape Balos, also known as Alamid Coffee is made from coffee beans that have been digested and fermented in the digestive system of the Asian Palm Civet. It is a luxury coffee, and the most expensive in the world. The beans are only available in some parts of Southeast Asia. It is farmed here in Mindanao, and some coffee shops in Davao City serve it. I tried my Kape Balos at the Kangaroo Coffee Company.
It has a coffee taste (DUH!) sans the bitterness. It is a coffee meant to be enjoyed , rather than drank to wake you up. It is good, on it's own, without sugar and cream. If you are a coffee drinker, it is a definite must-try. The video shows how I fail at using the press. I should have pressed the thing before pouring. DUH!
Kangaroo Coffee Company is located along Tiongko Street in downtown Davao City. They are open Mondays to Fridays from 9 am to 12 mn, and Saturdays from 9 am to 1 am.
Video taken by Blogie Robillo. Read his Kangaroo experience here.

Manila Ocean Park
You remember the Aquarium channel? That used to bug me. But after visiting the Manila Ocean Park, I already understand why people find aquariums fascinating and calming. I tried to make a calming video of my Manila Ocean Park experience...
I have been to the Hong Kong Ocean Park. And I had soooo much fun, but I was really young and OMG! I don't have photos of that one. :(
I had fun and really appreciated the Manila Ocean Park though. It brought out my geekiness.

Gift-Wrapping with Ria
When I was about to wrap a gift for my niece, Kuya Andrew had the brilliant idea of filming me and making me give some instructions ala Martha Stewart.
Here's a video of me wrapping a book for my one-year old niece:
Some Gift-Wrapping Tips and Notes:
Have fun! :)
{Pardon the constipated, "I'm shy," mood because it was in the middle of a cafe and... a cousin was there, and I really wasn't in a camwhoring mood. :P}
Here's a video of me wrapping a book for my one-year old niece:
Some Gift-Wrapping Tips and Notes:
- Work on a clean, flat surface.
- Use sharp scissors
- Use magic tape (Scotch brand) because it looks cleaner.
- When wrapping a gift for kids, choose a wrapper with a character or design they would like and stick with their favorite colors.
- Don't tape or stick the wrapper to the item itself. Either wrap the item in plastic first or wrap in such a way that would require you to tape the wrapper to the item.
- Note that I was wrapping a gift for a one-year-old, and her mother or father would be opening it for her. If I was wrapping a gift for an older kid, I'd make the wrapping less complicated, and with less tape so the kid would have an easy time opening it.
Have fun! :)
